An Introduction to your Spirit Guides.
A Channel from my Spirit Guide
For many years, I had no idea what a spirit guide was or what they did. Of course, I knew about my guardian angel, but I didn't realize that we also have spirits around us who are here to guide, support, and help us throughout our lives. As my spiritual journey was unfolding, I had been introduced to a meditation from James Van Praagh in his book “Wisdom from Your Spirit Guides.” That was the first time I connected and was introduced to one of the most special relationships I have in my life. While it wasn’t perfect and I didn’t get his name right, I was close, but it would change the trajectory of my life, unearth a support system and guidance that would lead me to love, bliss, success, and happiness. I can only hope that you will be open to connecting and finding your spirit guide, along with your angels.
You might be surprised to learn that I believe each of us has a primary spirit guide who is assigned to us from birth and remains with us throughout our lifetime. In addition, we may have many other guides who come and go depending on where we are on our journey and the type of guidance or support we need at a particular time.
As we navigate our lives here on Earth, I believe God gives us an expansive spiritual team to help us along the way. Medium and author Laura Lynne Jackson refers to this support system as our "Team of Light"—beings from the spiritual realm who are here to help guide us toward our path and purpose and support us in living the life we were meant to live.
Our spirit guides work alongside our angels, loved ones in Spirit, and ancestors, offering guidance and support as we move through life's challenges, opportunities, and lessons. Most of us simply don't realize how much help we have surrounding us.
Below is a channel from one of my own guides about everything you need to know about this wonderful spiritual team that is always by your side, working alongside your angels to guide and support you:
Your Spirit Guides
“Spirit Guides work closely with the angels to make sure that each and everyone of you has a support system that spans the galaxy. Your angels are here to protect and nurture you, receive messages from God directly and then share with you, and to help you on your path. Spirit guides act a little bit differently. Your guide or guides were once human and lived a human life. That experience to know and understand Earth is something that we bring to the table, empathy of understanding what you are going through, as we have many times before experienced the same. Sometimes guides are former family members and souls who have been in your chosen soul group for this lifetime. It could be a father or mother, it could be a best friend who has passed on. Some spirit guides you have never met, but they are assigned to help you navigate this life or whatever you are experiencing at the moment.
You have one main spirit guide that is assigned at birth for this lifetime. This is the guide that has helped you with your life plan in heaven and is by your side to see it come to fruition. As you know, you have free will, so that plan might go out the window, it may not happen, based on your choices, but if you follow your heart, you should be on the right path. Your spirit guide is there to help you along the way with anything that you might need. Think of us as a coach, a friend, a soul sister or brother, cheering you on in the game that is life. We are always by your side, ready and waiting for you to call us in and for us to help how we can. We love to communicate with you through intuition, nudges, synchronicities, and putting clues in front of you to guide you on your highest path.
From time-to-time other guides come in to help. Think of your main spirit guide as the quarterback of the supernatural team that is helping you excel in life. If you are struggling in school, we will send you a guide that may have been a teacher. If you are struggling with societal issues or friendships, we will send you guides to help you alleviate those issues. I often think of kids who are struggling in their studies, do you know you can call in math guides or engineering guides for help? What about sports? Can you call in a guide for your golf swing? Yes you can! The universe is filled with love and filled with beings who love to help. Their (the spirit guide) spirit and spiritual existence grows when you grow or when you succeed. On the other side there are teams who are there to help you and that is their main job. In Heaven and the divine realm, no one is sitting around. Everyone is in service to someone or something, for that is love.
So how to call in your guide or guides?
We are nothing but a whisper away. First, acknowledge the fact that you have this team of light that is willing to help you. Know that there is almost a guide for everything. There are joy guides, there are health guides, there are teacher guides, there are guides for finding you a parking spot to helping you get into college and find a job. There is a guide for everything, but you must ask. There does not have to be a whole to do to connect with your guide. A simple prayer or meditation will do. Start to build a relationship with your team and your main spirit guide.
For a meditation try this:
Sit in a chair with your feet firmly planted on the ground.
Take three deep breaths, in and out. Really exhale and let that air come out of you.
Feel yourself ground to the Earth with your feet, while you reach for the astral dimension or heaven in your mind.
Continue to meditate, thinking of stillness as you wish to connect with your highest spirit guide for your best and highest good.
Let your body relax and place your palms up.
Feel the vibration and frequency of your guide coming in to speak with you.
Envision stairs up a beautiful staircase. Walk up those stairs and envision a door in the distance.
Take your time and continue to breathe, deep breaths to calm yourself and find your mind in stillness.
When you are at the door, look at the intricacies of the door, the beauty of it, admire it.
Now, reach up and open that door. Look for your guide just beyond it.
Envision you are in a beautiful room waiting to have tea. Invite your guide in to connect with you and meet you.
Ask their name, who they are, what they do, and get a feeling of the love they have for you.
Only connect with and speak to your highest guide, a guide that is from the light and filled with love.
When finished, walk back through the door and come down the stairs. Thank your guide for the meeting and interaction and so it is.
Did your guide give you a name? Trust what came into your mind first. Did they look a specific way? This can take time to connect, but know you have a beautiful and willing spirit guide who wants you to achieve everything you have set out to do. Know that you can call on your guide for anything and everything. They are here to serve you and help you as you navigate this life. You can have a large team from time to time helping you, you can have 1-2 guides helping you at any given time. Depending on what you are going through, sometimes your guides may come and go, sometimes they come in for specific things or times in your life.
When you are going through an incredibly difficult time, know that you have a team that is aligned with you. That team can include ancestors, specific spirit guides, star beings, along with all of the angels that are aligned with you. There are guides for everything to help you in any situation. Know that we are by your side, loving you every step of the way. We are only a thought or a call way, by your side to help you achieve the most and the best that you have set out to achieve.”
Spirit guides will not take away the lessons you are meant to experience. I believe there are certain things we need to encounter and move through in order for our souls to learn, evolve, and grow—experiences we may have chosen for ourselves before coming to Earth. Your guides are not here to remove every challenge, hardship, or difficult moment from your path.
But they are here to help.
They want to work alongside you, communicate with you, and gently guide you as you navigate this life. Be open to listening for their guidance. Learn to recognize the subtle signs, feelings, thoughts, and synchronicities that may be pointing you in a particular direction.
Life can become so much richer when you begin to understand that God never intended for you to walk this journey alone. You have an incredible spiritual team by your side, supporting you through the ride of your life!

How incredible is it to consider that Source—our Creator—has surrounded us with an entire spiritual support system? Angels, spirit guides, loved ones in Spirit, and the heavenly realm are there to remind us that we are loved, supported, and guided as we move through this earthly experience.
You still have free will. You still have lessons to learn and choices to make. You still have to walk your own path.
But you never have to walk it alone.
