Straight from THE Source Vol 17 – Spiritual Realm 101 Continued…Part Two
Last week, we explored some of the questions I am asked most often in Spiritual Realm 101 – Part One. More than ever before, humanity seems to be awakening to what I call the Divine—the heavenly realms and the many ways we experience God. Many people are going through a spiritual awakening, while others are finding their way back to their faith, reconnecting with their spirit, or simply sensing that there is a greater love and purpose guiding their lives.
Whether your path is rooted in religion, spirituality, or simple curiosity, you've probably encountered a variety of terms that can feel confusing or unfamiliar. Here at A History of Angels, I use many of these terms as I share what I have learned through my own experiences, my research, and the messages I receive. My hope is to make these concepts easier to understand and more approachable for everyone.
In Spiritual Realm 101 – Part One, we discussed God—whom the angels and I often refer to as Source—the Creator of the Universe. We explored what we mean by Spirit, discussed angels, archangels, and spirit guides, and introduced the idea that both the universe and the human body are energetic by nature.
In Part Two, we'll continue building that foundation. We'll explore consciousness, what it means to perceive and read energy, and the roles of healers and channels. We'll also explain the differences between psychics and mediums, discuss what it means to be a healer, and take a closer look at how intuitive information is received and understood.
As I shared in Part One, I do not claim to have all the answers. I am simply someone who is living this journey one day at a time, continually learning, growing, and surrendering to the path God has placed before me. Everything I share comes from my own experiences, the guidance I have received, and the wisdom of remarkable teachers and mentors who have helped me along the way.
My sincere hope is that this series helps remove some of the mystery surrounding these spiritual terms and offers clarity, encouragement, and insight wherever you may be on your own spiritual journey.
Prayer vs Meditation, do I pray or should I meditate?
My recommendation is to practice both prayer and meditation, as they are different yet complementary ways of deepening your relationship with God and the Divine.
The simplest way to explain the difference is this:
When you pray, you are speaking to God. When you meditate, you are listening for God.
Prayer is our opportunity to communicate with our Creator. We pray to give thanks, ask for guidance, lift up someone in need, seek forgiveness, offer praise, or simply spend time in conversation with God. Prayer can take many forms. It may be a traditional prayer, such as the Our Father or the Hail Mary found in Christian and Catholic traditions, or it may simply be a heartfelt conversation spoken in your own words.
Depending on your faith tradition and personal beliefs, you may also pray to Jesus, ask the angels or the saints to intercede on your behalf, or ask Mother Mary to bring your prayers before God. Ultimately, there is no perfect formula. Prayer is personal. God desires a relationship with each of us, and He welcomes every sincere conversation offered with an open heart.
Meditation, by contrast, is the practice of quieting the mind and becoming deeply present. It is the intentional act of moving beyond the constant stream of thoughts to rest in silence, awareness, and stillness. Some people focus on their breath, repeat a sacred word or mantra, contemplate Scripture, or simply become aware of God's presence. For me, meditation is creating the space to connect more deeply with Spirit and to become receptive to the guidance of the Divine.
In prayer, we speak and ask.
In meditation, we become still and listen.
I believe a healthy spiritual life benefits from both practices. Prayer nurtures our relationship with God through conversation, while meditation cultivates openness, peace, and spiritual awareness. Together, they can deepen our faith, quiet the mind, support our emotional and physical well-being, and open us to a greater awareness of God's presence in our lives.
While there are many meditation apps you can download or research, A History of Angels was taught and uses the Self-Realization Method of Meditation. For prayer there are also apps like You Version or a download of the Holy Rosary can get you started. There is no right or wrong way when speaking to your Creator, either in your head or out loud.
What is Consciousness and why do people always talk about it?
People categorize and define consciousness in a variety of ways. I think Consciousness is the awareness of our true divine nature. It is the living presence within us that observes, learns, loves, and connects us to God, our soul, and all creation. As our consciousness expands, we move beyond fear and ego into greater love, wisdom, compassion, intuition, and unity. Growing in consciousness is the lifelong journey of remembering who we truly are and living in harmony with our highest purpose.
Two of the spiritual teachers who have had the greatest influence on my own journey are Diana Cooper and Sonia Choquette. I have had the privilege of being personally coached by Sonia Choquette and am a Certified Intuitive Coach through her training program. Their teachings have helped shape my understanding of intuition, the spiritual realm, and my work as a channel.
Their definitions of consciousness and how they approach it are different, yet very similar. According to Sonia, she describes consciousness as your awareness of your true spiritual nature. She teaches that consciousness is the state in which you recognize yourself as a divine, intuitive being rather than simply your personality or ego. As your consciousness expands, you become more connected to your intuition, spirit guides, and the loving guidance of the Universe.
In her teachings:
Consciousness is awareness beyond the analytical mind.
It grows through trust, intuition, and living from your authentic self.
Fear lowers consciousness, while love, gratitude, and joy expand it.
Raising consciousness allows you to hear divine guidance more clearly.
Diana Cooper views consciousness as the frequency or vibration of your soul and your level of spiritual awareness. She often teaches that humanity is evolving from third-dimensional consciousness into fifth-dimensional consciousness, where people live with greater love, unity, compassion, and connection to God.
For Diana Cooper, consciousness involves:
Remembering your divine origin.
Raising your vibration.
Living from your heart instead of fear.
Understanding that everything is interconnected.
Aligning with your soul's purpose and serving the highest good.
She frequently speaks of expanding consciousness through meditation, working with angels, higher chakras, sacred geometry, and spiritual service. The more people come back to their heart, live in their own spirit that resides in heaven, and releases the “ego” their consciousness will expand. As consciousness grows, people experience greater peace, wisdom, and connection with the Divine.
So you say you’re a “Healer?!”
As a Certified ASHATI Energy Healer, I now see the term HEALER everywhere. It has become a popular word in both spiritual and wellness communities, yet it can mean very different things to different people.
Just a few years ago, I had no idea that I was a healer, that this would become part of my life's work, or even what being a healer truly meant.
Today, my personal definition of a healer is someone who helps another person move toward wholeness. Healing can take many forms, and it isn't limited to physical health. A therapist can be a healer. A teacher, mentor, coach, or trusted friend who listens with compassion can also be a healer. Doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals bring healing through medicine and science, while others help heal emotional wounds, relationships, or the human spirit.
Healing is ultimately about helping someone become more whole.
For me, healing happens in several different ways.
First, I serve as an energy healer through the ASHATI Energy Healing modality. The ASHATI system focuses on healing the mental and emotional layers of our being, balancing the chakra system, and clearing energetic attachment cords and so much more. The intention is to restore harmony and balance within a person's energetic system, often creating shifts that can be experienced emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and sometimes even physically.
Second, I experience healing through mediumship. Every mediumship session I conduct is rooted in love, compassion, and hope. When people reconnect with loved ones in Spirit, they are often reminded that love does not end with physical death. Time and again, I have witnessed profound peace and healing as families receive reassurance that those they love continue to live on in Heaven and remain deeply connected to them.
Finally, I witness healing through psychic and intuitive readings. When someone receives clarity about a difficult situation, discovers a new direction, or gains confidence in the path ahead, fear and uncertainty often begin to lift. I have watched anxiety give way to peace as people reconnect with their purpose, trust themselves more deeply, and move forward with renewed hope.
Healing is not always about curing an illness. Sometimes healing is finding peace. Sometimes it is discovering clarity. Sometimes it is releasing fear. And sometimes it is simply remembering who you truly are.

What is an intuitive? What is intuition?
The term intuitive gets used frequently in spiritual circles and is often associated with psychics. While the two are related, they are not necessarily the same.
Sonia Choquette, a New York Times bestselling author and internationally recognized teacher on intuition, describes intuition as our ability to tune into our inner voice, our inner knowing, the energy of life, and the guidance that comes from within. She often teaches that intuition is available to everyone—it is a natural ability that can be developed through awareness, trust, and practice.
From my perspective, intuition is our sixth sense and perhaps one of the most important gifts we possess. It is the quiet inner knowing that guides us beyond logic alone. I believe it is our ability to connect with the wisdom of our own spirit and move beyond the constant chatter of the ego. (I am referring to your own spirit—the spiritual aspect of you that I believe resides in Heaven while your soul experiences life here on Earth.)
You do not have to be a professional psychic to develop your intuition. Every person has the capacity to strengthen this inner guidance. Like any skill, it grows through practice, awareness, and learning to trust the subtle impressions, feelings, and insights that arise from within.
Sonia Choquette often encourages people to "trust your vibes." By this, she means paying attention to those subtle energetic feelings that tell you when something feels off—or when something feels exactly right. We've all experienced moments when our heart knew the answer before our mind could explain it. That quiet knowing is often intuition at work.
The more we learn to quiet the noise of everyday life, the easier it becomes to recognize the gentle voice of intuition. I believe it is one of God's greatest gifts to humanity—a source of guidance that can help us make wiser decisions, avoid unnecessary hardship, and live with greater peace, confidence, and purpose.
When we learn to trust our intuition, we begin to trust ourselves. And often, that is where the journey truly begins.
What is a Channel?
In simple terms: A channel is someone who serves as a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms, sharing guidance they believe comes from a higher source to support healing, growth, and a deeper connection with the Divine.
As an Angelic channel I connect with several archangels and pass on the messages that they channel through me. A channel is a person who can receive information, guidance, inspiration, or healing energy from a higher spiritual source and communicate it to others. Depending on the individual's beliefs and practice, that source may be understood as God, the Holy Spirit, angels, ascended masters, spirit guides, or higher levels of consciousness.
Many channels describe the process as receiving thoughts, words, images, feelings, symbols, or a deep inner knowing, as well as hearing an audible voice. They often experience the information as flowing through them rather than being created by them.
From this spiritual perspective, a channel's role is not to predict the future or replace a person's free will, but to offer guidance, encouragement, healing, and insight that helps people reconnect with love, purpose, and their own inner wisdom.
Most experienced channels emphasize the importance of discernment, humility, integrity, and personal responsibility. They believe any message received should be measured against love, compassion, truth, and wisdom, and that individuals should always use their own judgment when making decisions. Think of the person who is channeling like an antenna, a conduit, just interpreting and relay the message.
What is a psychic or a medium? Are they one in the same?
In simple terms: A psychic is someone who can access intuitive information beyond ordinary sensory perception to provide insight, guidance, or greater understanding. I like to say that they can read energy or perceive it. Get a feeling, a vision, or see the energy around a person or situation. It’s not predicting the future, it’s finding a path forward and giving guidance and clarity.
In simple terms: A medium is someone who can serve as a bridge between the physical world and the spirit world by conveying messages they believe come from those who have passed on. All mediums have psychic abilities, but not all psychics are mediums and can practice that type of channeling. Famous intuitive and medium John Holland once said “a psychic will perceive, but a medium receives.” I believe both are channels and serve as a conduit for Spirit to help people move forward, heal, identify grief and trauma, and move forward in a positive and loving way. All psychic and mediumship readings should be done with the intention of the person’s highest good.
And last, but certainly not least. How do psychic’s and medium’s do it? What are the Clair’s?
In Kim Russo’s book, “The Happy Medium,” she outlines what she calls the clair’s, the abilities that all people have, but most don’t actively use. Psychics and mediums have these abilities turned on and actively strengthen these abilities, I believe you can too.
The Clairs: Different Ways People Receive Intuitive Information
Many spiritual traditions teach that intuition can be experienced through several natural forms of perception known as the "clairs," from the French word clair, meaning "clear."
Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing)
Clairvoyance is the perceived ability to receive intuitive information through inner vision. People who identify as clairvoyant may experience mental images, symbols, colors, or scenes that they believe provide spiritual insight or guidance.
Clairaudience (Clear Hearing)
Clairaudience is the perceived ability to receive intuitive information through inner hearing. This may be experienced as words, phrases, music, or guidance heard internally rather than through the physical ears.
Clairsentience (Clear Feeling)
Clairsentience is the perceived ability to receive intuitive information through physical sensations or emotions. A person may feel another person's emotional state, notice subtle bodily sensations, or experience what they believe is energetic information.
Claircognizance (Clear Knowing)
Claircognizance is the perceived ability to simply know information without consciously reasoning how it was obtained. This knowledge may appear suddenly as an insight, realization, or deep certainty.
Clairgustance (Clear Tasting)
Clairgustance is the perceived ability to experience tastes without a physical source. Some spiritual practitioners believe these tastes may be associated with intuitive impressions or spiritual communication.
Clairalience (Clear Smelling)
Clairalience is the perceived ability to smell fragrances or scents that have no identifiable physical source. Some people believe these scents carry symbolic or spiritual meaning. I bet once or twice in your life, you have experienced one of these clair’s. Just knowing something or having a feeling, listening to that voice in your head, or seeing something in your mind’s eye like a movie.
In closing, I know this has been a longer article, but these are the questions I am asked most often. My hope is that by building a solid spiritual foundation, many of these concepts begin to make sense and feel a little less mysterious.
If there is one message I hope you take away from this series, it is this:
You are a spark of the Divine and incredibly loved.
You were created by God with purpose, intention, and unconditional love. You are never alone. God knows you, hears you, and is always available to you. You also have an incredible spiritual team surrounding you—angels, spirit guides, and the heavenly realm—ready to support, guide, and encourage you throughout your life's journey.
You can pray to God, call upon your angels, ask your spirit guides for guidance, and develop the spiritual gifts and abilities that already exist within you. Intuition, inner knowing, and the ability to perceive guidance are not reserved for a select few. While some people may naturally experience these gifts more strongly than others, I believe we all possess the capacity to deepen our awareness and strengthen our connection with the Divine.
If all of this feels like a lot to take in, that's okay. It is. Spiritual growth is not about learning everything at once—it is a lifelong journey of faith, discovery, and transformation.
So, start with the basics.
Pray. Meditate. Spend time in stillness. Develop a relationship with your Creator. The more you seek God, the more you begin to recognize His presence in your life.
Everything else builds from there.
As I often say, these are the messages I have been blessed to receive and share...
