Archangel Azrael

Archangel of the Month

Archangel Azrael is one of the most important and magnificent angels that supports God. In times of your most important transitions, he will also support you.

He is an 11th-dimensional angel who presides not only over death, but also over birth, rebirth, and every major transition of the human soul. He is a prominent figure in many religions and traditions, most notably in Judaism and Islam. In Islam his name means “God’s Helper”, and he helps you as well. Most often known as the Angel of Death, yet this title reflects only a small part of his sacred role.

As with any angel or Archangel, to call on them simply say their name. Whether that is out loud, in your head, or through prayer or chanting, you can call on Azrael in times of when you are going through a transformation, a rebirth, a death of an old self, or when someone you know is being born or passing on to heaven. He will always be by your side.

Archangel Azrael is often depicted to be dark and cloaked in black, with a warm golden light on the inside.

Azrael and his vast host of angels are present at every birth, every passing into Heaven, and every profound turning point in a person’s life. These transitions may appear as death, but they may also be experienced as new beginnings—a transformation of self, a new path, or a soul awakening.

In all of these moments, he stands beside you.

Azrael serves God and the Godhead with divine order and protection. Together with the ascended masters and choirs of angels, he oversees the sacred records of creation—each soul entering the universe and each soul returning to the light. Nothing is random; all is known, honored, and held in love.

He commands an army of millions of angels and exists beyond the limits of time. What is difficult for the human mind to comprehend is that time does not exist in higher realms. Azrael is everywhere at once—present with all souls, always.

As the angel of transitions and new beginnings, his work is not dark or fearful. It is gentle, luminous, and deeply loving. Death is not despair—it is a homecoming. It is the soul’s return to Heaven, to God, and to its true essence and beauty. Your higher self already resides there, and when life completes its cycle, you reunite with it after a sacred and meaningful journey called life.

Azrael stands at the beginning and the end, and at every moment in between when a soul undergoes profound change. Life is a circle, an eternal unfolding, and it is beautiful. He is often perceived as tall, robed in black, yet enveloped in gold—the color of angels and divine service. Gold represents devotion to God, divine light, and sacred authority. He is surrounded by angels, ascended masters, and heavenly choirs, all united in service to divine love and God.

God’s love for humanity is infinite. Humanity is cherished beyond measure, and every soul is guided, protected, and accompanied. Azrael holds one of the greatest roles in existence: witnessing souls be born, live fully, and return home. Death is not an ending—it is a return to light, love, soul family, and divine truth. It is where you reunite with those who journeyed beside you, learned with you, and helped you evolve across lifetimes.

There is nothing to fear. You are always held. You are always guided. And you are always loved. When you are moving through a season of change and need someone to confide in, call upon Archangel Azrael. When a baby is being born, offer gratitude to Archangel Azrael for their safe arrival. And when a loved one is nearing the end of life, think of him as the one who gently ushers souls’ home.

He is a speck of golden light in the vastness of the cosmos, woven among the stars. Look up into the night sky and imagine a single golden star shining back at you—that is where you will find him.
